Ontrac Actuators Deliver Zero-Leak Performance in Challenging Peruvian Mining Application
Introduction:
Ontrac is proud to share a recent success story from the field, demonstrating the exceptional durability of our technology in extreme conditions. In collaboration with Bray, Ontrac electric actuators have successfully resolved a critical leakage issue for a major mining company in northern Peru.
The Challenge:
The application involved a reclaimed water line carrying 13% solids at a high pressure of 120 PSI. This environment is highly abrasive and critical to the mine’s operational continuity. Previously installed equipment failed in less than two years due to constant leaks caused by direct contact with abrasive solids. A more robust and reliable solution was urgently required to prevent costly maintenance and operational downtime.
The Solution:
To address these harsh conditions, the existing valves were replaced with Bray S768 Knife Gate Valves powered by Ontrac electric actuators. This combined solution was chosen for its ability to isolate flow reliably while protecting internal components from the slurry.
Proven Results:
The results have been outstanding:
- Uninterrupted Service: The Ontrac-powered valves have now operated for 9 consecutive months without a single leak or interruption.
- Increased Reliability: The system has demonstrated superior reliability in a high-pressure, high-solid environment where previous solutions failed.
- Operational Optimization: The client has seen a significant reduction in unplanned maintenance costs and improved process stability.
Customer Confidence:
Following this successful performance, the customer has expressed high satisfaction and has already purchased additional valves with Ontrac electric actuators to complete the migration of this critical area to our technology.
